Post concussion syndrome results after the brain suffers from injury due to accidents. It can last for weaks or months and characterized by headaches and dizziness. This is considered a mild traumatic brain injury. The risk for developing post concussion syndrome is not related with the initial injury's severity. Concussion can occur even if the victim has not become unconscious when the head injury occurs. This usually happens when the head hits the windshield or some other parts of the car during a collision. (See also How to Value a Brain Injury in a Personal Injury Claim).
Headaches, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, noise and light sensitivity, and loss of concentration and memory are the common symptoms f post concussion syndrome. These headaches may resemble tension headaches, migraines or cluster headaches in intensity. Other symptoms could include little changes in behavior, which is common among people who suffer from mild trauma to the brain.
