Woman Sues O’Hare Airport
August 17, 2009
A woman who was traveling to a medical conference had to go through the O’Hare airport in Chicago. While she was going to catch her airplane, she slipped on a slick spot in the terminal and injured herself. She fell and suffered a broken knee cap.
Because of the woman’s busted knee, she was forced to undergo surgery and had to miss work for months. She filed a personal injury claim against the airport for failing to keep the terminal clean and safe. The amount that she is suing for is $800,000 for her pain, suffering and lost wages.
According to federal and state laws, it is the responsibility of the business or facility to pay for the medical expenses, legal fees and lost wages of an individual who is injured because of negligence. The O’Hare airport should have done a better job of keeping its terminals clean- to avoid injuring its customers and airline passengers.
