I slip and fell in a grocery store two years ago and got injured. I just realized I could have filed a lawsuit. Is it too late?
Question: I slipped and fell in our local grocery store because the floor was really wet and they didn't put up a sign. They were definitely negligent, and I want to sue them. The problem was, it was almost two years ago and I don’t know what the negligence statute of limitations is for a personal injury lawsuit like this. I live in Alabama, by the way, in case that matters.

The negligence statute of limitations, and the statute of limitations for all personal injury actions, varies by state. In Alabama, the statute of limitations is two years. If your injury occurred less then two years ago, you may still be able to file suit. You should speak with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible to determine whether you can still file a claim within the statute of limitations, and you should act quickly to ensure that you protect your right to recover your damages.
