I was involved in a car accident, and sustained quite a bit of bodily injury from it. Insurance has said it will cover the expenses, but they are requiring me to sign a settlement agreement for the amount. What should I do?

Typically, insurance claims will likely cover the expenses you sustain based on the accident. As long as you’ve claimed the injuries from the beginning, and there is documentation stating the bodily injuries sustained, you should be covered for any ongoing medical attention needed. In settlement situations, full injury claims will be negotiated and a lump sum will be paid to cover all the bills. However, there are some circumstances where injuries arise that were not first diagnosed, and are not covered by the agreement. Before signing any settlement agreement, it would be wise to speak with a lawyer to understand what the agreement will cover, and if there is anything you can do if an injury’s effects don’t surface until after the agreement is signed.
