What are typical damages awarded after the amputation of a leg?

I had to have my leg amputated after an accident. I’m going to sue, but I want to know about how much money I can expect to get from this. The accident was totally the other person’s fault.

Unfortunately, there is no set answer which can be given. Damages awarded in a personal injury case are determined on a case-by-case basis. If you choose to accept an out-of-court settlement, it will be up to you to determine whether the monetary damages being offered are sufficient to compensate you for the loss of your leg. If you decide to allow the case to go to trial, the jury will determine the monetary recovery appropriate to compensate you for the loss of your leg. You should speak with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible to discuss your options in filing a lawsuit, and to get advice about settlement offers, if any.
