Train Accident

A train accident is when something unexpected happens to a train such as a collision, derailment or fire and that unexpected event results in property damage, injuries or fatalities. The most common causes of train accidents include mechanical failures, structural defects, maintenance problems and human error. Train passengers or people outside of the train who are hurt in a train accident may be able to file negligence or product liability lawsuits. Train employees may be protected by the Federal Employer's Liability Act (FELA). Train accidents may also be called railroad accidents or train crashes.
