The most common causes of spinal cord injuries are motor vehicle accidents followed by acts of violence, falls, sports and recreation injuries and finally diseases. A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone but higher rates are seen among men than women and among people in the 16 ヨ 30 year old age group than in other age groups. The symptoms of spinal cord injury are not always easy to diagnosis and may be subtle. Therefore, it is important for anyone who suffers a trauma to the head, neck or back to seek prompt medical attention.
