Rezulin Lawsuit

Those who were prescribed the drug Rezulin in the late 1990s and suffered liver damage as a result may be entitled to compensation through a Rezulin lawsuit. The generic name of Rezulin was "troglitazone" and it was prescribed to sufferers of type 2 diabetes. Although the drug was originally licensed by the FDA, the manufacturers Pfizer recalled the drug in 2000, after 3 years on the market, after evidence emerged of the potential risks of liver failure associated with the drug. The drug was found to result in a significantly higher risk of liver failure, leading many patients to require liver transplant and in most cases resulting in death. A class action was filed in Illinois in 2002 and resulted in a settlement being offered after it was shown that the risks associated with the drug contradicted advertised safety.
