Property Liability For Injuries

It is important for owners to take the proper action to prevent property liability for injuries. Under the laws of premises liability, an owner can often be held liable for injuries that take place on his property. Generally speaking, these injuries at play are slip and fall – where the plaintiff (person suing) has slipped and fallen on the owner's property. To actually be held liable, there must be a certain level of negligence on the owner's part. This can be a failure to clean ice on the sidewalk, failure to maintain safety fixtures, or any other failure to use reasonable care. In addition to negligence, there is one more element to consider, which is the status of the injured visitor. Courts recognize different levels of visitor, namely invitees, licensees, and trespassers, and have determined that visitors at different levels are due different levels of care.
