Personal Injury Lawsuits

Personal injury lawsuits are claims made to the court in which a plaintiff seeks to be compensated for a personal injury they have suffered as a direct result of the defendants actions. The injury may be physical, psychological or mental. The most common types of personal injury lawsuits are road traffic accidents, work-related accidents, claims of assault, and accidents that happen within the home. The statutes of limitations for when a personal injury lawsuit must be filed differs from state to state, but in most jurisdictions is two years from the time of injury or from the time the injury is detected. Negligence is the number one accusation made in a personal injury lawsuit. Strict liability, another accusation, holds a given designer of manufacturer responsible for injuries incurred from the use of a defective product, and on rare occasions an accusation of intentional wrong is made.
