Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Mild traumatic brain injury is the result of the brain being violently jolted which causes it to slam up against the skull. Symptoms of a mild traumatic brain injury can include loss of consciousness immediately before and or after the initial injury, an altered state of consciousness and seizures almost immediately following the injury. In many mild traumatic brain injury cases, a patient appears to be fine, yet will suffer from chronic headaches, dizziness, changes in cognitive ability and personality. While much rarer, mild traumatic brain injury can also result from the brain being pierced or exposed to outside elements. The leading causes of mild traumatic brain injury are motor vehicle crashes, falls, firearms and recreational sports and activities.
