Medical Malpractice Rates

Medical malpractice is a huge concern that is plaguing the healthcare system. Television proliferates the idea that medical malpractice is an everyday occurrence. However, as the number medical malpractice cases increase so does the rate of medical malpractice insurance which in turn increases the cost of medical care. The number of medical malpractice cases needs to be reduced in order for the cost of medical care to realigned and affordable. In order to reduce the rate of medical malpractice the fundamental issues of why it occurs in the first place must be looked at and understood. What we do know is that often doctors, nurses, and medical technicians miss details due to the limited amount of time they have to spend with patients. This is why many diagnoses can be wrong - they are based on hastily gathered information. Having the wrong information from the start is the beginning of a skewed and ultimately wrong diagnosis and eventually malpractice suit. If this trend of a short office visit continues, medical malpractice rates will continue to rise. Ultimately it is in the doctor's control to spend time with their patient learning what is necessary to make a proper diagnosis.
