Lead Paint Recalls

Despite the fact that lead paint has been banned from use in toy manufacture for over 30 years, there have remained a significant number of recalls in recent years for contaminated toys. The most recent high-profile lead paint recalls were in 2007 when RC2 Corp recalled 1.5 million Thomas the Tank Engine and Fisher Price (Mattel) recalled almost 1 million different branded toys. The source of the lead paint contamination in most recalls is related to importing toys manufactured in countries which do not have the same level of regulation. Over the course of 2007 there were also numerous other less publicized lead paint recalls including children's jewelry, gardening gloves, jackets and key chains, made by a variety of companies including Toys ムR' Us.
