Forklift Injury

As with other types of heavy machinery operating on construction sites or in manufacturing centers, it is relatively easy to sustain a forklift injury if the appropriate safety procedures are not in place to protect employees. Forklift operation involves maneuvering the vehicle to collect and deposit large loads, which can lead the forklift to tip or the load to be spilled if not done in the correct way. Either of these incidents may lead to significant forklift injury, either for the operator of the forklift or other nearby employees. Factors contributing to this type of accident include a lack of operator training or time pressure placed on employees which force them to move larger loads than may be done so safely. Poor operator training may also contribute to forklift injury of pedestrians when the forklift is reversing or maneuvering loads which obstruct the operator's view. The different causes can lead to various types of forklift injury, varying from a few bruises to more serious injuries such as amputation, brain and spinal injuries and death.
