Food And Drug Recall

Food and drug recall is a process where the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) appeal to the consumer to send back certain products if evidence comes to light that they may be harmful. This usually occurs with food where evidence is found that a product from a manufacturer has been contaminated with a harmful substance. Food recalls most commonly involve imported products which have been contaminated through less restricted processes than are used in the U.S. Drug recalls also commonly occur where contamination has occurred, or where potentially harmful side effects become apparent which were not discovered in clinical trials. Drug recalls tend to be surrounded by scandal, as often deaths may occur before the product is withdrawn from the market.
