Ephedra Addiction

Ephedra is a herbal remedy which has in recent years appeared in weight-loss supplements, before being banned by the FDA in 2003. Although ephedra is naturally derived, it remains a chemical substance, and many who have taken ephedra claim it to be addictive. This is supported by the fact that ephedra is found in crystal meth, which is known to be a highly-addictive drug. Ephedra addiction is most often described by sufferers as a "craving" for the drug, in spite of recognizing the many bad side effects which may arise from taking ephedra. People who are addicted to ephedra are likely to experience withdrawal symptoms which may be similar to those associated with any other drug addiction. Common withdrawal symptoms associated with ephedra addiction may include insomnia or sleep pattern disturbances, tension headaches, mood swings and irritation.
