Ephedra is a herbal remedy which has in recent years appeared in weight-loss supplements, before being banned by the FDA in 2003. Although ephedra is naturally derived, it remains a chemical substance, and many who have taken ephedra claim it to be addictive. This is supported by the fact that ephedra is found in crystal meth, which is known to be a highly-addictive drug.
