Discrimination Training

Discrimination training is a type of occupational training which is offered to employees in an attempt to reduce the amount of discrimination in the workplace. It is in the interests of employers to offer discrimination training not only to improve the work atmosphere, but also to meet their responsibility under the law. Otherwise employers may be left open to lawsuits should any employee experience discrimination of any kind at work. Discrimination training covers all aspects of discrimination and tolerance including discrimination on the basis of race, religion, nationality, age, sex or disability. The training usually details such things as how to deal with religious accommodation requests; how to avoid potential stereotyping situations, particularly with regard to sex and age; and how to deal with balancing possible conflicts between disability and performance.
