There are a number of situations that are attributed to being the cause of cerebral palsy. Brain damage to the cerebrum can result in cerebral palsy. Injury during pregnancy accounts for approximately 75% of the cases of cerebral palsy, and 5% during delivery. As such, the majority of all cerebral palsy sufferers are infants and young children. Brain damage to the areas of the brain that are responsible for motor control result in a number of developmental disorders. They include, but are not limited to, reduced sensation, altered perception, cognitive disabilities, epilepsy, and communication and behavioral problems. There is no known cure for cerebral palsy.
