Accident Brain Injury

Accident brain injury is the result of the brain being suddenly and violently jolted back and forth inside the skull cavity. The brain is damaged as a result of slamming into the skull bone. There are a number of different types of accident brain injuries. This type of accident brain injury is known as a closed injury. Another type of accident brain injury is an open injury in which the skull is fractured and opens up exposing the brain, or the brain is pierced by an object. Focal brain damage means damage to the brain is located in a certain area of the brain. Diffuse brain injury means there is damage to more than one area. Accident brain injury can cause physical, motor, cognitive, behavioral and psychological damage to the brain.
