Vehicle Rollovers

A vehicle rollover is any type of automobile accident in which the vehicle turns over onto either its side or its roof. The vehicle may actually roll over a number of times before coming to a standstill, or may tip directly onto its side or roof. The leading cause of vehicle rollovers is when a driver steers the car too sharply when the vehicle is travelling fast. This may include either taking a bend too fast or swerving to avoid something in the road. There are however other possible causes of vehicle rollovers including collision with another vehicle or incorrect maneuvering on a slope. Any of these may cause the vehicle to become unstable and tip. Vehicles which are top-heavy are at greater risk of rollovers, for example those with large roof racks or taller vehicles such as SUVs.
