Severe Injury

A severe injury is defined as any physical injury that significantly impairs a person's ability to maintain the same life routine they had prior to when the injury was inflicted. Examples of a severe injury are total blindness, paraplegia or quadriplegia, amputation, burns to 50% or more of the body, significant brain injury, loss of hearing or ability to perform mobility, communicate or the inability to perform tasks of self care. Depending on the type of severe injury, a person may incur astronomical medical bills for current and future care, as well as the loss of a significant amount of money in lost wages and suffer severe pain, both emotional and physical.
