Lead Paint Abatement

Lead paint abatement is the removal or reduction of lead paint hazards within a dwelling. Lead paint abatement includes paint removal and or encapsulation of lead-based painted surfaces. Most states require that anyone involved with a lead paint abatement must complete a state-approved training course before they can participate in the process. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) operates an applicable course for those states that do not operate their own training course. Laws governing lead paint abatement vary from state to state. Lead paint abatement usually involves the removal of paint from window frames, doors and trim, the removal of the entire item itself or the encapsulation of lead-paint covered surfaces.
