Defective Product Liability

U.S. law places strict responsibility on manufacturers to supply consumers with goods which are safe to use. The manufacturer therefore has defective product liability should any injury be caused by the use of their product which can be shown to be due to a product defect. This defect may be in either the manufacturing process or design of the product, or may be an inherent risk associated with the product which the manufacturer has failed to warn consumers about. This defective product liability then places the manufacturer directly open to compensation claims for injuries arising from product use. It is possible that defective product liability may also extend beyond conventionally retailed products to anything which may be sold, for example real estate.
