Cerebral Palsy Birth

Cerebral Palsy, which is also known as "Little's disease" or "static encephalopathy", is a medical condition which is caused when a baby's brain is damaged. This can result from something which happens to damage the brain during pregnancy or shortly after birth, although one of the most common causes is when an injury happens during birth. Complications which lead to oxygen being cut off from the child's brain are those which may lead to a cerebral palsy birth. Examples of this type of complication include twisting of the umbilical cord or the baby becoming stuck in the birth canal. It may be quite common for a baby to twist itself into an unnatural position or compress the umbilical cord during labor, and a doctor has to act quickly in these circumstances to prevent a cerebral palsy birth. The longer that oxygen is cut off from the brain, the higher the possibility of cerebral palsy or another serious birth defect.
